Take the Southern State Pkwy to Exit 20 South (Grand Ave). Stay on Grand to Sunrise Hwy. and turn right. Go west on Sunrise to Long Beach Rd then turn left. Stay on Long Beach Rd south into Island Park. Take right fork and stay on Long Beach Rd. Go one block past Parma and make a right.

Note: Parking is private and can be a problem at this site. Although street parking is possible, many times the gates to this little beach are locked. Access to this site is best by boat.

Metal Detecting

This little town beach, located on Hog Island Channel, is great for those who use underwater metal detectors to hunt for coins and jewelry. The beach is only accessible during the off-season when the beach is closed to swimmers. The beach starts out very shallow but then drops off quickly to around 20 feet. In season, swim races with lanes are set up between the main pier and a floating dock to the south. It is here that we have found a variety of brass whistles, old brass beach tags and several gold rings. Please note that the bottom is a little silty but for an experienced diver with a metal detector the current usually carries away silt and makes target location possible.
