DIVE COMPUTERS
Dive computers or Decompression Computers as they are more commonly called combine all the functions of a depth gauge, bottom timer and dive tables into one unit. The advantage to computers is that along with supplying you with all of the required information, they also do the calculations for you. Another benefit is that most computers calculate no deco deco penalties based on your true mulit depth dive rather than just the deepest depth. With a dive computer all you have to do is look at your computer and it tells you how long you can stay down at any given depth with no deco or how long the deco will be. During the dive, the computer tells you how much time you have remaining. It will automatically adjust this time if your depth changes. Some dive computers will also calculate how much longer your air will last based on your current consumption rate. Below please find a variety of manufacturers so a comparison of models can be easily made. Remember price is not the only consideration. Dive computers should be easy to read and not over complicated. Buy a computer that is made for the type of diving you do. For example if you only do no deco dives that a simple computer will do but if you are a nitrox or tri mix diver you will need a more sophisticated unit.
